The Dream

I have a beautiful bunny dream. If God wants me to fulfill it here on earth, I'm sure He will provide a way for me to do it.

The Rabbit Research Institute (& Sanctuary) (RRI).

I have seen the land/buildings that I would like to buy. The land is in an expensive area in Southern California, and costs over 2 million dollars. That's just the land alone. It runs along the 101 freeway, so I could advertise without cost!

Then I want an ecological architect, one that will build the Sanctuary into the land in a way that it melds into the land. There is a small hill on the land, and I would build a half round (sort of in the shape of a bunny ear) building backed into the hill. The front would be solar glass and at the bottom levels one would be able to walk around the building on a walking path with trees and flowers and herbs and look into the building and see the bunnies in their environments.

The higher floors would be glass as well, but for differing purposes.

Upon entering the bottom floor, to the right would be a beautiful counter with bunny environments built into the bottom and behind this counter would be a state of the art Bunny Veterinarian Center, with some of the best rabbit vets possible. It would double as a research center (RRI) for research into bunnies and their health. In the back of the building would be a little Fairyland village with spotted red and white polka dot (not real) mushrooms and big (not real) trees with trunks with doors that open so you can walk through the trunk into the fairy bunny room. There, children could have their birthday parties. There would be tea and crumpets and candy of course, and red velvet cake. There might even be a fairy or two, if I can get some high school girls to dress up and tell bunny stories at the parties. There would of course be a few lop eared bunnies for the children to pet and hold as well.

Another room would house the Bunny Supplies and Toy Shop with all the best bunny gourmet hays and treats and rabbit pellets, as well as anything else one might have use for for bunnies, AND BUNNY toys for children who love bunnies!  I want to design a beautiful "totally bunnies" coloring book also.  We would bake our own bunny treats in the back kitchen here as well as some pastries for the next room, which is the Bunny Cafe!  At the Bunny Cafe, we would serve only the best coffee and tea, and pastries and cakes. Maybe oatmeal too. Within the Bunny Cafe there will be free internet and a library, of all the best bunny books in the world, childrens bunny books, grown up bunny books, bunny information books, and bunny medical books for those who are interested in learning MORE about bunnies! I already have the collection of books for this library in my house now. There would also be a giant Christmas tree in the lobby full of stuffed bunnies and anyone who donated to the Bunny Medical Help Fund, would get to have a bunny from the bunny tree.

The second floor would have a boarding kennel with state of the art environments for bunnies, so they would be safe and happy while their owners went on vacations. Also on the second floor would be more research rooms, a library for the researchers, and a few offices for the administration and a training room for volunteers. Volunteers could get community service hours or job experience as vet tech assistants etc. The third floor would house a small apartment  where I could live! Always near the bunnies!

The outside, which is a good 2 acres would be completely covered over, with aviary netting/wire. (The look would be sort of like a golf course driving range only the net would also run across/over the top.  No hawks or owls could ever get in, nor coyotes or other predatory animals that hurt bunnies. Only the parking lot would be outside the netting. Once you enter the netted garden, it will be foresty and have beautiful flowers and herbs that are all safe for bunnys. That would include willow, apple and birch orchards, and all good bunny herbs, like cilantro, italian parsely basil, dill etc. There would be greenhouses where we grow our own salad greens and herbs for our bunnies, plus one small field of hays, timothy hay, oat hay, alfalfa hay, brome, meadow and orchard hays.  Throughout the gardens would be benches, where one could sit and catch glimpses of bunnies in bunny enclosures, living their bunny lives happily with a mate or friend.  And we would have classes every month where people can learn about bunnies, what it takes to keep a bunny healthy, and happy! Or how to groom a bunny.  And also a first aide for Bunnies class where one would learn the essentials of Bunny health, and what to do in an emergency.

I never know what my mind will come up with next! Every day I think of more things I want to do for bunnies. :)

I've been watching a lot of Bunny Agility lately and decided we would have an Agility course as well, where we can teach kids how to teach agility to their rabbits and also have a competition run where we would have quartely competitions and the run could also be used by locals to train their rabbits. They could rent out time at it, sort of like a tennis club rents out tennis courts.
